Hi Mark, that’s an excellent question. We found that the rVAE can be a perfect method for describing order parameter(s) and local phase transitions in disordered systems where it is necessary to separate molecules/particles orientation from other degrees of freedom. Examples include molecular self-assembly and solid-state chemical reactions.
